Crude oil has been here on this earth for several centuries, though in the past its uses were not fully understood. Thus in the US, the best variety of the crude oil that is obtained is called as the Brent, since it is the easiest to refine, containing only very less amount of sulfur.
The next best variety of the crude oil is the West Texas Intermediate, which contains a higher percentage of sulfur when compared to Brent. The crude oil that is obtained from the oil drilling wells from the Gulf of Mexico, is the toughest and the most time consuming to refine, of all the crude oils obtained in the US. This is because it contains a high amount of sulfur, and this makes it less costly, when compared to the other varieties of the crude oil.
